I am hoping that someone who is smarter than me..... undecided  can help me.  My grandson and I rented a movie yesterday that we planned on watching on our bedroom TV, which has a VCR/DVD player hooked up to it.  The movie came on alright, but there was no sound.  The grandson messed around with the plugs, making sure everything was tight, we made sure the mute was not on, we tried the volume on both of the remotes, cable and TV..............nothing worked.  We had played an old VCR movie tape about a month ago and the sound was fine.  I know it's probably something really simple, but we just can't figure it out.

Make sure the audio "out" of the DVD is going to the audio "in" of the TV. If the TV is stereo, then you'd have 2 plugs to push into the TV.

I assume the TV has normal sound. If so, then what you're saying is that when you press "play" and the dvd or vhs tape comes on, there is no sound. I've never encountered that before.

I know that the "menu" on the remotes do tons of things, requiring many "clicks" oftentimes. Maybe scanning through the menu looking for something to do with the audio could be clicked just to see if anything happens.

Of course, if there really is an electronic glitch involved, no one can fix those things anymore. The solution is to get another in this day and age.
