Bill LaCombe

Bill LaCombe passed away Saturday nite at about 7:27 pm at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Bill was very active in the old Commercial News forum, however, most of you knew him by Holdem.

I first met Bill in April of 05, and promised him I would not reveal his identity. He did have a funny side to him tho, he told me it would be ok after he passed on....

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I noticed some objections on AAD to your posting the picture and revealing Holdems name.  My take on it is that he is probably looking down and having a good laugh that even in death he can cause so much controversy..................

Did I make a mistake in doing what I did? He did give me permission when I met him in 2005, but I can not prove it, as it was verbal, between the 2 of us. Would I do it again? Nope, a snowball would have a better chance you know where. I never banned or suspended him from any of the forums, he quit on his own, I hated banning anyone.

I wish I could relive the past 3 days, and I never would have posted that message, just gave more ammunition to those who love me and my family so well.

I don't think you did anything wrong, for what's it's worth.  I think those that bash your family are just waiting on the sidelines for any opportunity to continue their bashing........    I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.  Holdem and I didn't agree on much on the CN forums, but I often wondered what he looked like, if he would be friendly if I were to ever meet him in person, etc.  I pictured him in my mind as a thin, unhappy old man with a scowl on his face.  I am surprised that he looks like a kindly grandfatherly type.  I think you kept your part of the bargain by not reveling his identity until his death.  That was between you and him, and I believe you........
