Petit Four Icing

6 cups powdered sugar
2 Tbls corn syrup
4 1/2 oz water
1 Tsp almond

Combine water ad syrup; add sugar.  Stir over low heat until heated to 100 degrees.  Add flavor.  Pour over cake or cookies.

Never Fail Meringue

1 heaping tsp cornstarch
4 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
cook until thick-Let cool
Beat 3 egg whites, gradually adding cornstarch mixture.  Beat until stiff peaks form.  Spoon over filling.  Bake at 350 10-12 minutes

This is the recipe for people Puppy Chow......Don't feed it to your pets!


2 cups chocolate chips
1 (15 ounce) box Crispix® or Rice Chex®
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup butter
3 cups confectioners’ sugar

Heat chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter on HIGH in a glass bowl in microwave until melted — mix well. Combine cereal and chocolate mix. Stir until completely coated. Place confectioners' sugar in a bag, add cereal mix, and shake to coat. Spread on wax paper. Let stand until set.


Kids absolutely love it......

Original Chex Party Mix

6 Tbls Butter
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
3/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
3 cups Corn Chex
3 cups Rice Chex
3 cups Wheat Chex
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup pretzels
1 cup garlic flavored bite sized bagel chips broken into 1 inch pieces.

Heat oven to 250.  Melt butter in large roasting pan in oven.  Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder and onion powder.  Gradually stir in remain ingredients until evenly coated.  Bake 1 hours stirring every 15 minutes  Spread on paper towels; cool.  Store in air tight container.

7 Minute Frosting (no fail)

1 cup sugar
2 egg whites
3 Tbls. cold water
pinch salt
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar.

Mix ingredients in top of double boiler.  Cook over water stirring constantly for 7 minutes.  Remove from heat and add 1 tsp vanilla.  Beat well.  Spread on cake.  Outside will form a light crust.

Party Nuts

1 lb Pecans
1 egg white
2 Tbls water
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon

Whip egg with water.  Moisten nuts in egg mixture then dip in sugar and cinnamon mixture  Bake on cookie sheet in 225 oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

Funnel Cake

Sift in large bowl:

1 1/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp. soda
2 Tbls sugar
2/3 Tbls baking powder

Mix 1 beaten egg and 2/3 cups milk with dry ingredients.  Beat until smooth.  Pour into a measuring cup and let the batter pour in a fine stream, in a spiral motion in a skillet of hot grease.  Fry until golden brown, turning once.  cover with powdered sugar.

Note: you can also pour batter into a funnel being careful to keep finger over hole until ready to spiral batter into grease.

Fruit and Vegetable Cheese Ball

2-8 oz Cream Cheese softened
2 Tbls Chopped green onions
2 Tbls chopped green pepper
2 tsp season salt (Lawry's)
1/2 cup crushed pineapple

Mix together well.  Let set in refrigerator over night.  Roll into ball and roll in chopped pecans.  Serve with crackers.

Holiday Cheese Ball

1-8 oz pkg. cream cheese softened
1-8oz ctn. Scott's Sharp Cheddar cheese food, softened
1-8 oz ctn. Scott's port wine cheese food, softened
1-8 oz ctn. Scott's hickory smoked cheese food softened.
1/3 cup dehydrated onions
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Mix thoroughly with gloved hands.  Roll into balls the size of a soft ball.  Roll in Oscar Mayer real bacon bits.  Wrap in Saran Wrap and chill at least overnight.  Serve with crackers.

Stuffed Mushrooms

1/2 lb ground Chuck
12 lb sausage
1/2 cup green  onions
1 pkg Lipton onion soup
Raw Mushrooms
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

Brown beef and sausage.  Add onions.  Drain.  Mix in soup mix and cheese.  Wash and decap mushrooms.  Stuff with mix.  Bake at 300 for 20 minutes.

Chocolate Gravy

1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1 cup water
2 cup milk

Mix dry ingredients in large saucepan.  Gradually stir in water and milk.  Cook over medium heat until mixture begins to boil.  Stir 1 minute.  Remove from heat and serve with hot biscuits.

Rotkraut mit Äpfeln
German Red Cabbage

One Large Red Cabbage
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons margarine
1/2 cup tarragon vinegar
1/2 cup red wine
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tart apples
2 tablespoons red currant jelly
1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds

Shred one large red cabbage with a knife and sprinkle it with salt and freshly ground pepper to taste. In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons margarine. Add cabbage and sprinkle with 1/2 cup tarragon vinegar. With a wooden spoon, stir and press down on the cabbage. Cook over low heat without adding more liquid if possible. Add 1/2 cup red wine if liquid is necessary.

Dissolve 3 tablespoons sugar in 3 tablespoons water, cook until brown. Add to cabbage then cover pan. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Add 2 tart apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced. Add 1/2 cup red wine, 2 tablespoons red currant jelly and 1/2 teaspoon each of powdered cloves and caraway seeds. Simmer additional 20 minutes, drain and serve.

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

1-8oz package cream cheese softened
1/2 butter softened (no substitutes)
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cups powdered sugar
2 Tbls Brown sugar
3/4 cups chocolate chips
3/4 cups finely chopped pecans

In a mixing bowl beat the cream cheese, butter and vanilla until fluffy.  Gradually add sugars and beat until combined.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.  Place cream cheese mix on a large piece of plastic wrap; shape into a ball.   Refrigerate for another hour.  Just before serving roll ball in pecans.  Serve with graham cracker stix.

Pina Colada Punch

9 cups cold milk
1 quart vanilla ice cream softened
4-6 ounce cans frozen concentrated pineapple juice.
1 cup plus 2 Tbls cream of coconut
1 Tbls rum extract or 1 cup plus 2 Tbls light rum.

Place all ingredients in large chilled punch bowl.  Beat with mixer until smooth.


Note:  To keep punch cold, freeze milk in ice cube trays. Garnish with frozen pineapple slices and cherries.

Holiday Wassail

4 cups apple cider or juice
1 cup water
4 Lipton Flo Thru Tea Bags
1 cup cranberry juice
2 Tbls fresh Lemon juice
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 whole Allspice
3 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick, broken
1/8 tsp nutmeg
Apple rings, sliced

In large saucepan, bring cider and water to a boil.  Add teabags; cover and brew 5 minutes.  Remove tea bags.  Stir in juices, sugar and spices.  Simmer for 10 minutes stirring occasionally.  Remove spices.  Garnish with Sliced apple rings.
