H E L P ! ! ! I think I just ruined a brand new pair of shorts! I wore them the other day to the ball park, & must have sat in something sticky and/or greasy. I used Spray & Wash, but now I have spots that look almost bleached. Is there any way to get them out, or do I throw a new pair of $35.00 shorts in the trash??
P.S. They have not been put in the dryer yet.

I have heard of rubbing salt, corn starch or Talcum powder on grease stains. None of those products would harm the fabric. You might try it and see if it works....
Type grease stains into your search engine and see what you come up with.

joni, jmemarie, did the tips work?
Our TV station here has a program called Does It Work Wednesday. They try it before we buy it and let us know if it works....It's a cool way to get information about products.

We have something called "Test it Tuesday" on channel 3.
I feel really dumb, but all I had to do was throw the shorts back in the wash & the spots came out. I was so happy. Thanks for the tip though.
Is it true that once a garment has been put in the dryer, you cannot remove a stain?

It's not completely true. It depends on what the stain is. Some stains will come out if you treat and wash the garment several times.

I have treated grease (cooking) spots on things and they didn't come out, didn't discover it until I took the stuff out of the dryer. Usually, I spot treat it with spray n wash, put some detergent on it and scrub it with a soft brush. Sometimes I've had to do this several times to get a spot out.

It makes me sick to think of all the clothes I have trown away, because I thought they were ruined because they had been through the dryer. Wish I would have known you guys while I worked at Officemax & ruined lots of pants with ink cartridges!

I think it has a little bit to do with being cheap, er I mean frugal, LOL. We just hate to throw anything away.
I will tell you that I had a brand new top, not expensive, but a burgundy color, I really liked it. I was doing some caulking at my parents house, and I got white caulk on it. I was never able to get it off. After that, I aways covered my top or wore something old when I was working with something messy.

Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and - voila - static is gone.

I have a brand-new t-shirt with screenprinting on the front of it. It's not the raised "bumpy latexy" kind of printing, but smooth to the shirt.
Is there anything I can do to preserve the image longer? I wanted to wash it before I wear it (for a party on 10/28) but I wanted to keep it from fading, if possible.
Thoughts? I remember something about vinegar and tie-dying, but those days are gone and I don't know if it would work for this type of garment.

I've heard that if you put some white vinegar in with new jeans it preserves the color longer. I don't know if it would work with your shirt, but if it worked with tie dyed stuff, I don't think it could hurt it.
Maybe if your just washed it in Woolite and line dried it instead of putting it in the dryer, it would stay new looking longer.
