I didn't go to high school there, however I have known a lot of people who did.  It especially seems that I have known a lot of people who were in the class of 1967.  That seems like that must have been a pretty remarkable class.  I was thinking about some english teacher that I can remember many people had high regard for.  I think his first name was John.  For the life of me I can't remember his last name.  I met his wife around the time that he died and I can't remember her name either.  The last I heard she had moved to Hawaii.  Does anyone have any idea who I am talking about?

I also seem to remember that Bill Black taught at Danville High School.

I had to get my Medley out for this one.  You might be talking about John Sanders.  I looked through the English teachers and can't even remember who I had, but I know it wasn't him.

I think my class of '67 at DHS had the classiest year book cover, black with silver trim. Seems like one '67 girl is on the "Wall of Fame"(?) Molly Melshing, sorry about the spelling. Of course, Briarpatch's own SpiritMan was in the class of '67. Randy Tinder apparently hit the big time as a school superintendent. Alan Woodrum got deeply involved in electonics. Some great musicians, too, Anne Richards, Bob Smiley, Tom Harrigan, Doncy Allison, Vicki Berg, who am I leaving out? Well, I  should mention Cathy LLewellyn ( again, sp) since she spent her career in music teaching and I suppose she kept up practicing clarinet an hour/day like Mr. Holl wanted. I heard Patty Wahfelt play piano in 9th grade (jr. hi.) and was impressed. I think that most all of us who liked music performance back then, are still cutting it to various degrees. (I'll be at the lunchbox "concert", barring rain, at the Temple Park on June 30th at 11:30am. Other than that, the ol' musical calendar is a little blank.)

Wasn't there some guy in that class that became very successful as a executive in the music industry?  It seems like I remember being told about that guy and that he had been fairly unpopular in high school, however he ended up doing quite well.

Never knew of anyone of '67 becoming an executive in the music field, but it's possible. Maybe the person has a listing in the 2002 DHS alumni book.

This little group I mentioned for Fri. the 30th, barring rain, haha, as it is now showering outside and cooling that 90+ temp. down, will play dixieland, a few swing tunes, a few polkas, a very few Latin,,all of it OLD. I am quite proud that both my daughters will be in it, so, 3/5 ths will be "Olivers". ("Piano", Alto Sax, Trombone, Cornet, Bass and Drums)

Our class is full of people who did well.  A lot of nurses, doctors, university heads.  At our 50th reunion there will be a book with information so when I get the book I can post some statistics.

I mentioned a guy that I heard about who went to DHS and the later became famous in the music industry.  I came across his name today.  It is Irving Azoff.  He was at DHS in the 60's.

Irving Azoff is a famous music industry manager of bands such as Jewel, The Eagles, Bush, REO Speedwagon, Dan Fogelberg, Seal, Journey, Christina Aguilera, and Van Halen. Irving was born on December 12, 1947. He is chairman and founder of Azoff Music Management Group, Inc. Mr. Azoff began promoting and booking bands during his college years at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, Illinois, and has worked as an agent, personal manager, concert promoter, movie producer, independent record label owner, merchandiser, music publisher, and CEO of a record company.

Irving has earned the nickname "poison dwarf", referring to his size and demeanor. He is the former head of MCA records and is credited for saving the company from bankruptcy. In 1983, Azoff followed Geffen's lead by becoming head of a major label, in this case the floundering MCA label. Azoff resigned from MCA in 1989 to form his own record label, Giant.

Irving co-produced the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Irving Azoff has been named "Manager of the Year" by two touring industry's trade publications.

His most famous quote is "I never met an asshole in the record business I didn't like."
