Thats it, knew I would know it if I heard it. Was actually Steffanini, I think. Mom may have known them, she left there to go to Lakeview around 1971 until she retired last year, but she kept in contact with the staff over there. Hey Ga, you may have known my mama if you worked at the hospital.

I think you are right about it being Steffanini.  From what I remember my sisters saying he was a fairly intimidating guy.

What was your mothers name Nan?  I only worked there in OB for a year before nursing school.

That name isn't familiar.  I worked there from the fall of 1963 to the fall of 1964.  Some of the names I do remember are Mary Ann Finney, Sylvia Slykes, Ruth Edwards, Mary  Isringhousen, Iris Mitchell, Lucia Holmes, Marilyn the nursery aide whose last name escapes me and a post partum nurse that I dearly loved and can't remember her name.  Guess the old cobwebs are getting thicker..... wink

Oops, since my area was Obstetrics, I haven't a clue.  I do know it was a wonderful place to work and they gave excellent care.

I just thought of the last name of that post partum nurse that I loved to work with.  It  was Shipman.  She was such a dear person.

Our family doctor was Dr. Lantz.  He lived on Vermilion Street in Danville, and he was not only our doctor till I left home at the ripe old age of 19  wink, but became a family friend.

I remember when I was very sick with a high temperature, he came right out and declared I had tonsillitis.  I had to take this horrible yellow medicine that had a raised giraffe design on the side of the glass bottle.   I didn't like the medicine, but he was always kind to me, no matter how many people might have been in his lobby.  I still have my tonsils though, never had to have them out.

When I was going to get married, I had to go in for the dreaded medical exam and was petrified, but  when it was my turn to go in his office, he said, "Here, let me sign that paper, I've known you for most of your life, and I KNOW your healthy"   was I ever relieved.

Don't know what happened to him since I've been living out of Danville for so many years.

Dr. Lantz was a really remarkable gentleman for sure...he made a couple housecalls for me when i was young....of course it wasnt far to go around the corner from his office on Park St.....
He moved to Florida after retirement and has been passed away for probably 15 years or so....
