I think most people already know about this site, but if not here it is. The Hunger SiteBy clicking on this link you can give free food and it doesn't cost you anything other than your time. The food is payed for by ads on the site. There also are links here for breast cancer, childcare, and environmental sites.

A nice browser... You can open just one occurence of Opera and have multiple windows open. Transfers are also managed within this neat lil browser. www.opera.comI use the free one... the banner doesn't bother me.

Opera is a nice browser and more good news is that the company that makes the browser has just recently decided to make the 8.5 version free and without ads. It is kinda tempting to go back to it. I have been using Firefox for a while now and like it a great deal. Still I think I will download Opera and see what it is like now.
One thing that we don't get told often is that if you use a browser other than Internet Explorer and an email program other than Outlook Express you will seldom be bothered by a virus and other bad things that come over the internet. Outlook Express is especially bad.

If you need an office suite like Microsoft Office, but don't want to buy that expensive software you should check out OpenOffice. It can do most of the things that Microsoft Office does and it is free. http://www.openoffice.org/

Too late, I fell for the Dell salesman selling Office with the system. Didn't even get Access and Power Point. Later I saw a very similar program at Wal Mart cheap.
I am interested in knowing more about Opera. Can you access the internet from your offline menu by using opera? I have AOL free for six months and am currently paying for MSN. I am going to dump one as soon as I get address books and things transferred. MSN didn't load right from the 8 disk. So I downloaded from the MSN site also.
I now have MSN Internet on my hard drive at 174MB and MSN at 174 MB and Messenger 7. A mess. Can I safely remove all of that MSN stuff and not be messing with any pre installed windows system I might need? I never use messenger and don't know why I need that. I would of course prefer a free ISP but didn't know if I could click an icon OPERA from the start menu and access the internet.
I never ever claimed to know anything about computers and your help is greatly appreciated.

Opera should be able to detect your internet connection without you needing to do anything. I remember a few years ago I used AOL for a while and I would just turn off that thing that AOL puts up and use my regular browser.
You should be able to remove MSN. If you go to the Control Panel and look at Add/Remove programs there should be an item to remove it.

When I went there on Thursday to remove at least one of the MSN programs I realized I had several downloaded. The MSN Internet one and the one that says MSN; both are the same size files.
Messenger (MSN) is also a separate program. I know that MSN and AOL don't play nice together and I have to dump one of them at least.

One good thing if you are using Windows XP is that you should be able to use system restore to go back if removing one of these programs causes a problem.

Thank you. That is one of the things I need to know. They don't include disks or recommend back up anymore cause of the restore feature. I did read that much when I installed this thing.

Microsoft issues critical fixesYesterday, Microsoft issued nine security patches for Windows. Three of the patches were "critical," Microsoft's most serious designation. If you haven't installed the patches, you should run Windows Update to do so. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20051012/D8D660QO2.html

This site has a tool that will generate a secure password that you can use. The WinGuides.com Password Generator allows you to create random passwords that are highly secure and extremely difficult to crack or guess due to an optional combination of lower and upper case letters, numbers and punctuation symbols. http://www.winguides.com/security/password.php

There is a tool on this site that you can use to build your own kaleidoscope. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to save the result still it is interesting to take a look at. http://www.zefrank.com/dtoy_vs_byokal/index.html
