Yes, after years of resistance, I finally joined Facebook and have recently posted a few older pictures that I have converted from slides and photos. Here is a billboard of the Ayatollah Khomeini (spelling probably wrong). This was in Danville at the corner of North and Buchanan Streets looking west toward Lauhoff Grain Company which is lost in the early morning fog. I probably took this picture in January or February of 1980. The date stamped on the slide is March 1980...when I had it processed.

Thanks....I do check in here and other forum somewhat regularly, but not much activity on most. For any interested I can be found on Facebook by looking for Hhops@facebook.comI will try to post a few of the older pics here now and then....until I run out of them. My pictures from Danville would only date from 1978 when we moved here and I began working at Lauhoff Grain Company....who after 32 years of service decided I was expendible....

Looking northwest from the area that is now the Towne Centre. I remember takin this early on a weekend morning before the downtown businesses were open. Notice all the parking meters.

Great pix. I know these bring back memories of different times. FB gets some bad raps, but I have reconnected with friends from Kindergarten thru 8th grade; friends from our neighborhood in NE in the 80's, and children of favorite cousins. The pictures and events they post bring back welcome memories.

Here are two pictures I took of Leath Furniture during the Iranian Hostage Crisis. It may not show well, but the front of the store is lined with small American flags and signs of support posted on their window. This building is now Turk Furniture, located across Vermilion Street from the Federal Building (former post office.)

Hey, I remember Leath Furniture! My oldest son was aboard the USS Lasalle during the Iranian Hostage Crisis. It was a spy ship that patrolled the Mediterranean Sea, known as the "Great White Ghost of the Arabian Coast."
