very good. It certainly can't hurt.

There are lots of Walmart sucks websites. Some of the stories I used to read would turn a head 360 degrees.

I remember how a guy I know who was a volunteer EMT worked at Walmart.  They knew that when they hired him and said they would work with him.  Once he started working there they eventually gave him the choice between going out and saving people lives or his job.  And here this guy was doing the EMT thing as a volunteer and wasn't really called all that often and Walmart couldn't work with him.

It's the Wal-Mart way.  When it's your time to go they will do anything to get rid of you to keep from paying higher wages and benefits.

Out of town -- well, always out of town in terms of us not being in the same town -- but out of town or not, I will be thinking of you and George.  Good luck.  Walmart is a tough nut to crack but people have been banging away at them and now is a good time to do what you have to do.

I would think that Walmart would not want the publicity of firing a WWII vet who seems to have been doing a good job. Maybe if they realize that you are going to put up a fight then they might change their minds.

It makes no difference to them who they fire.  I talked to one of their employees who is on medical leave who has been there 11 years.  They are trying to force her out.  She mentioned a black lady who has been there for years, who is a friend of George's that they are trying to force out too.  It's all in their little game of getting rid of the higher waged employees so they can replace them with the minimum waged ones.

I noticed when I was in there yesterday that they have promoted one of the young cashiers who has been there just a little over a year, to CSM.  She is probably still making under $6 per hour so it looks like they are restructuring their management wages too.....It's just the Wal-Mart way....   It may be a family but if so it's a disfunctional one at best.

The lawyer advised us to contact the EEOC in St. Louis.  So that is where we start....

I would really like to be able to stay away from Wal-Mart all together, but there aren't many options in Sikeston and gas is too expensive to drive 30 miles to Cape to shop.

I never participated in the conversations about Wal-Mart because they were my husbands employer and whatever else they did, they provided us with an income, however, all bets are off now.

They have poor attitudes toward both their customers and employees and thus give the employees a poor attitude which rubs off on customer service.

I noticed yesterday when we were in there they have several new Greeters all young and of minimum wage status.  None of them were friendly or had any idea where anything was.  George sat on the bench inside the front door while I shopped and more customers talked to him than the Greeter......go figure.

The little town where my mom lives, Wally World is the largest employer of retired people. They just opened a new super center about a year ago.  She is active in their lodge and hears so many stories about how Wally World treats their employees. These people don't call off or shirk their responsibilies but Wally World schedules them long days or no days, etc.

A couple women and one man who really depend on the jobs were very upset because they also have other jobs that were never a problem in the past. Now Wally World is using an automated scheduling system, nationwide, and these people have to be prepared to work any day, any shift. Their mgrs said no exceptions.

That was a problem here too.  We went to Wal-Mart to get a couple of picture frames tonight and were appalled at the greeter at the General merchandise door.  It was a young man with hair down to his shoulders, jeans with large holes in the knees and an unkept appearance.

It hasn't been but a few weeks that the greeters received an edict that said they had to be neat clean and professional looking and greet everyone as they came in the door.  This young man said nothing to anyone.  He was everything Wal-Mart has preached against.

We received our packet from the EEOC and as soon as our friend returns from vacation I am asking her to help us fill it out because she has a Masters Degree in Personell matters.  I am not sure we can get anywhere with it but at least we can make em sweat at the local management level......

I've read so many horror stories about things done to Walmart employees. I wish more lawyers would take on class action suits against them since there is much more power in great numbers.  I sure hope you and George get good results and a whole lot of satisfaction. Like you said, at minimum you can be a nasty thorn for a while.
With all the negative publicity, it seems more communities are keeping them out lately.
