It's easier to clean a bathroom after a steamy shower because the steam will have loosened the dirt.....

I was just in the kitchen baking pound cake (Mom's Recipe) and I had my glasses on so I could read the instructions (even though I know them by heart...sometimes you get interrupted and forget)...anyway...with my glasses on, I could see places on the back of my sink that needed extra cleaning......so......

....I took my glasses off...and it looked fine.... grin

At deals I bought some eraser sponges.  They work almost as well as taking off my glasses. I was surprised they rub out most everything without a lot of effort.

My friend and I were chopping onions and celery to freeze for the Thanksgiving dressing and she showed me a neat trick.  When you cut the end off a stalk of celery and turn it over to the cut side, it looks a lot like a pretty flower.  Dip it in paint and paint flowers on your sweat shirts or blouses...... cool or whatever.....not a cleaning tip but I thought it was interesting enough to pass on anyway...... wink

To remove hair spray from a bathroom mirror use alcohol and a soft cloth.

To clean the glass in your shower easily, apply lemon juice to the glass with a sponge. Then, take newspaper and wipe the lemon juice
off the glass. It will be clean and sparkle with no scrubbing!

Broken Glass

Use a dry cotton ball to pick up little broken glass pieces of glass- the fibers catch ones you can't see!

Flexible vacuum

To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacumn. It
can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

Measuring Cups

Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Next, add
your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

Foggy Windshield?

Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

Goodbye Fruit Flies

To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it 1/2" with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dishwashing liquid, mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

Get Rid of Ants

Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it "home," & can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, esp. if it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

What's the best way to clean and deodorize a garbage disposal?

I have used vinegar and baking soda and it seems to work okay...but I still have to stick my hand in pull up the flaps to clean the underside of them and it's yukky!!!

They used to advertise a pellet that you could drop in and run hot water and it would foam up and deodorize it...but no one seems to know where I can get them.

Whenever I have lemons, I grind up one in the disposal and it seems to help for a while. rolleyes

Yes, and no.  I don't remember the name and I am out of it and if I don't have any senior moments I will check on it when I go to the store Friday.  Since George isn't working I cut out the frill and that was part of the frill.

Received this in an email this morning.....boy do we need to count our blessings.................... .. Cheering

Washing Clothes Instructions Never thought of a "washer" in this light before..what a blessing! ' Washing Clothes Recipe'  -- imagine having a recipe for this ! ! !Years ago an Alabama grandmother gave the new bride the following recipe: This is an exact copy as written and found in an old scrapbook - with spelling errors and all.

WASHING CLOTHES

Build fire in backyard to heat kettle of rain water. Set tubs so smoke wont blow in eyes if wind is pert. Shave one hole cake of lie soap in boilin water.  Sort things, make 3 piles    1 pile white,    1 pile colored,1 pile work britches and rags.

To make starch, stir flour in cool water to smooth, then thin down with boiling water. Take white things, rub dirty spots on board, scrub hard, and boil, then rub colored don't boil just wrench and starch. Take things out of kettle with broom stick handle, then wrench, and starch. Hang old rags on fence. Spread tea towels on grass. Pore wrench water in flower bed. Scrub porch with hot soapy water. Turn tubs upside down. Go put on clean dress, smooth hair with hair combs. Brew cup of tea, sit and rock a  spell and count your blessings.    ================================================     Paste this over your washer and dryer. Next time when you think things are bleak, read it again, kiss that washing machine and dryer, and give thanks!  First thing each morning you should run and hug your washer and dryer, also your toilet---those two-holers used to get mighty cold! For you non-southerners -wrench means rinse.  Wink

AND WE THOUGHT WE HAVE IT ROUGH
