I am watching the Glenn Miller story on AMC.  He made such a mark on history with his music.  It's loved by all generations and it's
REAL music.............. wink

I love Harvey with Jimmy Stewart, Arsenic & Old Lace,  and Gone With The Wind...but Harvey, that is a true classic. I love that line, "I've wrestled with reality for 35 years, doctor,  and I'm happy to say I've finally won out over it."

In October 2006, I got to know Khaled Hosseini, because he was one of several authors invited to our house for a fundraiser for the National Kidney Foundation. Khaled is author of the novel, The Kite Runner, which is now a movie.

I saw the movie yesterday and it is phenomenal! It's about as true to the book as a movie could be. It transcended cultural and religious boundaries, bringing me to a place where I could share the humanity of life experience as though it was my own personal journey. I was reminded of a time when Americans could celebrate with pride, the kind of freedom our culture offered its new arrivals. Absent, is the extreme nationalist patriotism that poisons everything these days. I found myself kneeling in the Mosque with Amir, tears streaming down my cheeks, because I could personally identify with the struggle between loving one's homeland and culture while coming to accept the harsh reality of its dark side.

When it comes to movies, I admit I am and will always be hopelessly stuck in the past. I've listed my favorites somewhere on a thread online and I'm thinking the newest could be the Terry Garr (sp) one, "One From the Heart", not because of her, but because of the "seaming" of the movie with the sort of music I enjoy, though at first I thought the singer/composer, Tom Waites (sp) was kidding with his voice.

Otherwise, "Around the World 80 Days", "Journey to Center of Earth",and "Time Machine" could be inscribed on my stone....

I liked "Mamma Mia"

Had to laugh when Pierce Brosnan started to sing. Not that he was a bad singer, but it seemed he was out of character since I'm so used to seeing him play James Bond.

I loved it! I was so angry at the reviewers who panned it. They don't know how to laugh and feel good!

I just watched the documentary The Corporation for the third time. It is so amazing to see it while Obama is president and after the financial collapse! I recommend it to everyone!!!

My friend Dustin Lance Black has a new movie out. This one looks like it's going to be very funny!
