I thought of this as a topic while making a reply on the paranormal thread.  This doesn't have to be a review.  Just a place to share your favorites.

I have a lot of favorites.  I suppose to start musicals are not my favorite category of movie, however there are several that I like.  "San Francisco" with Clark Gable and Jeanette MacDonald is a musical that I enjoyed.  It is funny that two of my favorite musicals as an adult have Jeanette MacDonald in them.  I always thought that her singing was comical when I was a kid.  The first musical that I saw and liked was "My Fair Lady" with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison.  I remember starting to watch this movie and thinking that there is no way that I will like this and then being entranced by the movie.

Lastly, is "Popeye" with Robin Williams   and Shelley Duvall.  I don't think that Popeye is on many peoples favorite list, however I really enjoyed this movie and have never understood all the bad reviews it got.

I love musicals, but my all time favorite is The Music Man.  I think I like them all. My hubby can't stand them, probably cause I sing so many to him. I also love Gone With the Wind, seldom see it since you know who isn't fond of it either, but I've read the book a few times. Loved The Shining too.
Guess theres not any one type of film for me, I like a little of everything.

I love all kinds of movies.

Musicals, because I too like to sing along.
My daughter and I both like old movies as well.  She just got a copy of "The Pirate" with Judy Garland and Gene Kelly.  She won the bid on e-bay!  Yes it's VHS, but who knows when it will come out on DVD (if ever)  undecided

I also like any movie with a happy ending . . . . be it boy gets girl or vice-versa, or just any kind of movie that brings laughter, love and a darn good feeling about life.

A few on my list:
Return to Me
You've Got Mail
The Mask of Zorro
Singing in the Rain
Lady and the Tramp
Just Visiting

And oh, the list could go on!

So . . . . how about you . . . .

I've always enjoyed the Hitchcock movies - Especially " North by Northwest". More recently it has been the Lord of the Rings trilogy ( extended version of course ).

I love movies that make me laugh, make me cry or make me mad and empower me to do something !  I don't see a lot of movies because my husband does not like to go to the theater and very seldom sits through an entire movie at home unless it's something stupid,  rolleyes.

When I visited SpiritMan, we watched Like Water For Chocolate.  I thought it was wonderful !!!  Other favorites are Ghost, The Notebook, The 6th Sense and my new favorite Brokeback Mountain.

I'm with you, Butterflly ... Like Water For Chocolate is definitely on my favorites list and Wuthering Heights is another favorite of mine (not sure if I spelled it right)...but I also like comedy as long as it's not too gross...some of what people think is funny nowdays is just downright insulting or if there's too much foul language it turns me off.  undecided
I haven't seen Brokeback Mountain yet...but from the reviews, I'm sure it will be on my list. wink

Empire of the Sun and Sweet Home Alabama are two of my favorites.  Of course all of the Susan Hayward  and Loretta Young movies are my all time favorites.  My daughter told me Sweet Home Alabama is on right now on ABC, she watched it at Christmas while here, and now she is in love with it too. hopeless romantics.

ABSOLUTELY! They are in a class all by themselves. One of my favorites is "The Misfits" with Clark Gable. Who would know from the title that it's about horses?

They don't make movies like they used to.  I could watch the classics all day every day and never be bored.
